Painting Night at LIV Parkside

One of my best friends in the world, Mollie, is a talented artist and art educator, with years of experience teaching group painting classes; so it was a no-brainer to ask her to come and teach residents at LIV Parkside for a night! We had so much fun painting our own versions of her original work of art: a totally new portrayal of the Vulcan statue, a famous Birmingham landmark.

We had a great turnout and beautiful results (as you'll see below!), and many folks were saying they'd love to do it again, and how about next week? I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it so much and it was a joy for me to be there, as well! Thank you, Mollie!

If you'd like to host your own painting night with friends or for a party, bachelorette or otherwise, email her at somewhimsystudio@gmail.com for more information.

Laura and her Mama

Laura and her Mama

The celebration of a grandmother and her family, the love they share and the memories they will hold dear forever. In light of Kate's terminal diagnosis and aggressive lung cancer, we made sure to capture a glimpse of her vivacity and zest for life, as well as her relationships, to be treasured and held dear.

The Pearson Family at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens

The Pearson Family at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens

One beautiful Saturday morning in November, I met up with this precious family to create family portraits with them. Their daughters arrived with enthusiasm, and immediately wanted to remove their shoes and play in the gardens barefoot. I think their excitement and carefree spirits helped start us off on a wonderful, natural path. We had a lot of fun playing and bringing out the kids personalities, while also capturing the entire family together. What a gift it is to know this sweet family and to help them cherish one another through portraiture. Enjoy!

Christmas Card Delivery!

Halloween has come and gone (and so have so many cute costumes!)... and as Thanksgiving approaches, it's prime time for Christmas and Holiday cards. I loved getting to deliver my first set of cards this year to a happy client, yesterday, even with the craziness of being in between homes for the moment. (Fortunately, we're housed, but yes, it's chaos and overwhelming.)

These gorgeous cards pair so well with the elegantly simple kraft envelopes my client selected! I wish I could share them with you but that's her surprise, not mine ;) Truly, I adore getting to deliver beautiful, elegant portraiture to my clients. It is such a gift! It's like a teeny taste of Christmas morning for me, every time I get to see the artwork my clients and I have created together.

It's time for me to get to work on our own Christmas/Holiday card, as well as to work on more for more clients. I absolutely adore the experience of sending and receiving cards from so many loved ones.

Blessings in this busy season!
